RDS uses Highway, a carrier identity verification and monitoring platform, as part of how we vet the motor carriers that haul our customers’ freight. It helps us confirm a carrier is who it says it is before we tender a load, reducing the risk of fraud, double brokering and cargo theft.
Why does carrier vetting matter to shippers?
Freight fraud often starts with a stolen or fake carrier identity. When a broker can’t confirm who is picking up a load, the shipper carries the risk of a missed delivery, a stolen shipment or a dispute over responsibility. Verifying identity before the load moves is the most direct way to prevent those problems.
How does RDS use Highway?
[CONFIRM: how long RDS has used Highway, and what Greg is comfortable stating publicly, e.g., “every carrier is verified before a load is tendered and monitored while the load is active.”]
What carrier vetting does not tell you
Identity checks and public records, including FMCSA data, confirm who a carrier is, its operating authority and its insurance. They are not a safety rating, and we don’t present them as one. Vetting is one part of how we manage risk, alongside our insurance relationships and our own processes.
